If you've been wondering whether your child's struggles at home or school might be related to ADHD, you're not alone — and you don't have to keep guessing.
HarborPointe Therapies offers comprehensive ADHD testing and assessment services for both children and adults. Assessments are conducted by Dr. Vannest, who received specialized assessment training in his doctoral program in addition to advanced clinical training in ADHD assessment. Formalized assessments are consistent with national standards of ADHD diagnosis using standardized, nationally normed assessment tools.
A formal diagnosis can open doors. Whether your child needs an IEP, a 504 plan, or accommodations at school, or whether you or your child is considering medication management with a physician or psychiatrist, our assessment process gives you the documentation and clarity to take those next steps with confidence.

At HarborPointe Therapies, we are deeply committed to supporting families navigating the complexities of ADHD. We understand the unique challenges you face and recognize that with the right guidance, your child and family can achieve success. Working with our skilled professionals provides you with a clear diagnosis, a practical roadmap, and the compassionate support needed to build a more peaceful home life.
Our assessment process for children and adolescents is designed to be thorough, thoughtful, and minimally disruptive. It unfolds across three steps.
Step 1 — Meeting with Parents
We begin with a meeting with you, the parents, or primary caretakers. This is your opportunity to share your observations, concerns, and your child's history. There's no formal testing at this stage — just a focused conversation that helps us understand your child's full picture before we meet with them directly. This session is covered by insurance.
Step 2 — Meeting with Your Child
Next, we meet one-on-one with your child or adolescent for an informal assessment. This gives us a chance to connect with them directly and gather our own observations in a relaxed, low-pressure setting. This session is also covered by insurance.

Step 3 — Formalized Assessment
Following the first two meetings, we send standardized assessment tools to two parents or primary caretakers and two school personnel who know your child well. Once completed, we analyze and interpret all of the data and prepare a comprehensive written report that includes the diagnosis, assessment results, and a summary of findings. We then meet with you a third time to walk through everything together and answer your questions. This third session is covered by insurance.
If you're an adult wondering whether ADHD might be contributing to challenges in your work, relationships, or daily life, our adult assessment process offers the answers you're looking for. It takes place across two sessions plus a data gathering and analysis stage.

Session 1 — Intake and Informal Assessment
We begin with a comprehensive intake meeting in which we gather your personal history, discuss your concerns, and conduct an informal assessment. This session is covered by insurance.
Data Gathering and Analysis
Following your intake, we send you standardized assessment tools to complete. Once returned, we analyze and interpret all of the data and prepare a written report that includes the diagnosis as appropriate — a document you can take directly to your primary care physician or psychiatrist if you're considering medication management. This stage is not covered by insurance.
Session 2 — Results Meeting
In your final session, we walk through the assessment results together and present you with your written report. This session is covered by insurance.
If you have questions about the assessment process or would like to schedule an appointment, we'd love to hear from you.
